If you have gotten this far you know my name is Marissa Melin. I have my blog, which is purely my own mumblings about life, education, books, technology, and all the other thoughts that seem to drift through this chaotic mind of mine. I have been teaching for 8 years in Florida and taught the gambit of middle school. I have spent the majority of my career teaching 8th grade language arts. I also seem to take on more and more responsibilities each year, in the form of curriculum writing, professional development, and most recently higher education. When it comes to teaching, I tend to be a rebel. I believe strongly in integrating technology, challenging gifted students, and instilling a love of reading and poetry into students. This causes me to sometimes cause ripples and often waves at my school and district (I'm more of a why not person than a yes person.) I'm stubborn and if I think it's right for kids, I don't give up.
In life, I thankfully have a very understanding husband, who puts up with this stubbornness. When I'm not working too much, I love to do projects on our home, snuggle with my cats, and travel.
